At Mae Jum, we love celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD), a day dedicated to recognising the amazing achievements of women all over the world. It’s been going since the early 1900s, with the first official gathering in 1911 across Austria, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland. Since then, it’s grown into a global movement, raising awareness about gender equality and encouraging action for positive change.
Every year on 8th March, we take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and look ahead to what still needs to be done. The theme for IWD 2025 is “Accelerate Action”, encouraging us all to keep pushing forward towards a more inclusive and equal world.
Celebrating Women in the Culinary World
At Mae Jum, food is at the heart of what we do, and we know how important women are in shaping culinary traditions. Whether it’s home cooks passing down beloved family recipes or professional chefs redefining food culture, women have always played a huge role in keeping traditions alive and inspiring new generations.
Mae Jum itself is built on the foundation of traditional Thai recipes passed down through generations of incredible women. Our journey is a testament to the power of female leadership, resilience, and passion in the food industry.
The Women Who Inspire Me
This International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to appreciate the women in my life who have been my biggest inspirations and sources of strength.

My Mother
A huge thank you to my mum, the strongest woman I know. Raising me and my seven siblings was no easy task, but she did it with love, patience, and determination. She’s been the rock of our family. The delicious pastes I share with you were taught to me by my mother, I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.
My Sisters
I want to send love to all of my 4 wonderful sisters in Thailand. They are my lifelong best friends and a constant source of unconditional love. We may not see each often but when we do, it's like we are reliving our teenage years. I can’t wait for the next time we’re all together again.
My Daughters
My two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Annabel, they inspire me every day. Watching them grow into strong, intelligent, and independent women is the greatest joy of my life. Each building and navigating their own paths in life, I couldn’t be more proud of them.
How You Can Support Women This IWD
