My name is Jatuporn, though everyone calls me "Jum." Growing up in the lush, tropical landscape of Southern Thailand, my childhood was surrounded by the vibrant colours and aromas of fresh herbs and fiery chilies, all thriving in our garden among the papaya, banana, and jackfruit trees. We lived in harmony with nature, harvesting what we needed and unknowingly reaping the benefits of Mother Nature’s bounty—nourishment, health, and healing remedies.
In 1992, I moved to the UK, bringing with me the rich culinary traditions passed down from my grandmother and great-grandmothers. As a proud mother of three, it’s always been essential to keep my children connected to their Thai heritage through the flavours and recipes I grew up with. Encouraged by my family, who might have been just as eager for the convenience of getting my curry pastes online as they were about sharing our culture, I began this journey with Mae Jum ("Mae" means Mother in Thai).
And so, the Mae Jum story began—rooted in love, tradition, and the belief that everyone deserves to experience the true taste of Thailand and healing powers of Thai cuisine.
