Happy International Women’s Day 2021! A day to celebrate the challenges and achievements of women throughout the years. International women’s day has been observed since the early 1900s with the first gathering being held in 1911 in Austria, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland. With over a century of change, we have seen huge fundraising for women-focused charities, raised awareness for women equality and millions of people, both men and women, uplift the spirits of women in celebrating their achievements. Please take a look International Women’s Day website here for more information.
I would like to shout out to all the women in my family, both in Thailand and England, for all of their love, support and incredible achievements. In the photo below, there is my mother (Mae / คุณแม่), my older sister Bunyarat (คุณ บุณยรัตน์ - nickname, Took / ตุ๊ก) and my eldest niece Nawarat (คุณ นวรัตน์ - nickname, Ann / แอน). This was taken early last year, which was the last time I saw them, I can’t wait to be reunited once again.
A special thank you to my mother, her name is Sompong (คุณ สมพงษ์ ) and she is the strongest women I know. She has worked so hard her entire life; raising me up with my 7 siblings must have been a challenge. She’s been the backbone of the family, she continues to do an amazing job. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without her!
My two beautiful daughters, Jessica and Annabel, give me strength and encouragement every day, I hope that I may guide and inspire them too. I’ve enjoyed seeing them grow into intelligent and independent women, their success would be the greatest gift I could ever wish for. This picture was taken at Jessica’s graduation in 2019, Annabel also graduated last year and is currently studying for her master's degree! I am so very proud of them both!
Last, but by no means least, is a shout out to both my mother-in-law Denise. and my sister-in-law Anita, who both welcomed, supported and love me throughout the last 29 years in the UK, making me feel very much part of the family, which was not just important for me, but also for the family I left back in Thailand. Anita and I have grown up together, from young carefree and excitable women, into more considerate, less carefree, mothers sharing a deep mutual passion for nature and health. When I started Mae Jum, her love and encouragement spurred me on; I am so very grateful to her.
She’s an amazing woman and a huge part of my life, so when she launched an incredible range of all-natural beauty products for the face and body, I couldn’t be any prouder. Her pamper set would make the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. The constant hard work and dedication she puts into her business every day is truly inspiring. It’s an amazing small business, please pay a visit to her ‘Apothecary & me’ website.
